IoT Data Engineer


Job Summary
As an IoT Engineer, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary Agile team
to build high quality IoT solutions. These solutions will capture the data used
to generate insights from our connected equipment, enabling PPL to advance the
data-driven decision-making capabilities of our enterprise. This role requires
deep understanding of Azure IoT and familiarity with Azure IoT architecture and
engineering. The ideal candidate is a skilled Azure IoT engineer with
experience standing up complete Azure IoT solutions. They are also able to work
with Azure DevOps Engineers to deploy the solution architecture as
infrastructure as code. They are an Agile learner, possess strong
problem-solving skills, work as part of a technical, cross functional analytics
team, and want to solve complex data problems and deliver the insights to
enable analytics strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
Partner with architecture and engineering teams to develop technical
architectures and data flows for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives.
Build IoT Solutions for IoT Edge computing that utilize various protocols
(MQTT, HTTPS, SFTP, Modbus, etc).
Configure, manage, patch, upgrade and deploy Azure IoT components (IoT Hub,
IoT Edge, Device Provisioning, IoT Edge modules, IoT Edge Computing) using
Azure DevOps
Consult with DevOps engineers to deploy IoT solution architecture
Advise, consult, mentor and coach product teams on IoT standards and practices
Work with architecture to develop and deliver communication and education
plans on IoT capabilities, standards, and processes
