The Finance Manager and Controller reports to the Vice-President of Finance, and elaborates a vision that is comprehensive, strategic, innovative and inspiring. The incumbent will efficiently plan, coordinate, manage and review activities in close collaboration with the Director, Analysis, Planning and Treasurer.

The role of the Finance Manager and Controller demonstrates strong leadership to help their team members reach the organization’s financial and strategic objectives. They must have extensive knowledge of accounting practices and sufficiently developed communication skills to foster and maintain internal and external relationships. Good tolerance of stress and the ability to manage priorities effectively are essential qualities.

The Finance Manager and Controller plays a key role at the Montreal Port Authority (“MPA”) that includes:

  • Hiring, training, developing, and mobilizing a team of roughly twenty highly qualified accounting and finance managers and professionals;
  • Strategically leading accounting and finance functions ;
  • Providing the Vice-President of Finance and the Executive Committee with guidance and expertise on the financial implications of strategic decisions;
  • Working closely with the IT department on the digital transformation  of finance and accounting functions;
  • Developing accounting policies, procedures, and internal control rules;
  • Suggesting improvements to protect the integrity of the company’s financial information;
  • Overseeing  relations with independent auditors;
  • Continuously recommending improvements.
