onPsych is seeking a fully registered psychologist to support a primary and secondary school across two campuses in the South West Sydney region, starting in TERM 4!

This position is for two days a week (one day at each campus) with the possibility of adding an additional day in the future.


About Us

onPsych Services provides high quality mental health support to children and families in primary and secondary schools in Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. The team of practitioners (clinical psychologists, educational and developmental psychologists, generally registered psychologists, and mental health social workers) are supported by a General Manager in each operating state. The General Managers are all actively practicing registered psychologists who assist staff with the day-to-day management of schools and clients, and provide supervision and support on complex cases.

onPsych General Managers ensure staff professional development, psychological resources, onPsych promotional material, and other necessary tools and equipment are readily available for all onPsych staff. The General Managers are also responsible to promote onPsych services within their state by targeting schools and other relevant support services and networks.

All onPsych staff are classed as sole traders, who provide psychological support to students and families on the grounds of independent and public schools. onPsych staff work very closely with teachers, support staff, welfare staff, parents and other integral individuals who are involve in the child / young persons life. The majority of work conducted is a free service for schools and families, as we bulk-bill services to individuals who have a Mental Health Care Plan.

Role Description
onPsych staff roles and responsibilitiescaninclude the following, though are not limited to:

  • Bulk-billed individual and group therapy sessions using evidenced based practices with children and young people to address a range of symptoms, difficulties, and presentations, including:
  • Anxiety
  • Mood disorders
  • Bullying
  • Social skills difficulties
  • Behavioural disorders
  • Adjustment difficulties associated with parental divorce / separation, death, etc
  • Eating disorders
  • Stress associated with school work / exams
  • ASD
  • Bulk-billed individual sessions with parents / carers to provide psycho-education and practical strategies to support their childs individual needs, or to address their own mental health issues
  • Psychological testing and assessments, particularly WISCs, and WIATs
  • Facilitating group workshops for parents and / or teachers on a range of topics or issues
Essential Criteria
To be considered for a role with onPsych NSW, you must:
  • Be fully registered psychologists with APRHA or accredited mental health social workers with the AASW
  • Have, or be able to obtain, a Medicare Provider Number
  • Have a current Working with Childrens Check
  • Be prepared to obtain your own Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with children, adolescents, parents, educators and other health professionals
  • Have experience working as a psychologist or mental health social worker with children, adolescents, and their families
  • Be a highly motivated, organised, self-directed individual who enjoys working autonomously
  • Have a demonstrated capacity to independently manage a significant case load
  • Have solid knowledge of evidence-based, therapeutic techniques suitable for use with children and young people
  • Have awareness of professional development needs
  • Be able to write clear, concise and highly professional reports
Desirable Criteria
Prior experience with the below listed criteria would be considered highly advantageous:
  • Experience presenting parent and/or teacher workshops on topics commonly associated with child and adolescent mental health
  • Experience conducting assessments using the Q-Interactive
  • Experience working in a school
