GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS ACCOUNTING SERVICES MANAGER/CONSULTANT
 

We have immediate opening for experienced Government Contracts Accounting Services Manager/Consultant!  

 

This position manages the operations for our GOVCON/SASS department and reports to two partners leading this practice group out of our Fairfax, Virginia location. The manager is responsible for both the accounting and advisory services performed for multiple government contractor, government grantees and small business clients. This position oversees client close processes, supervises all facets of operational accounting and financial package development, and directly interacts with client personnel. This position is responsible for working with department?s two partners to streamline processes and assign and manage staff work at the proper level. Their other responsibilities include ensuring the implementation of accounting best practices and compliance with federal and state and local tax laws, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) compliance, and internal controls.

 
 
 
WHAT YOU'LL DO
 
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the month end closing process including but not limited to account reconciliations and financial statement packages development.
  • Reviews and analyzes the monthly financial statements and determines reasons for monthly variance explanations.
  • Researches and prepares reports and graphics/charts as requested by the client or partner.
  • In conjunction with partner, assists in determining work assignments, priorities, and performance expectations for staff. Trains staff or clients on software, procedures, and reporting as needed.
  • Provides guidance on proper accounting treatment under GAAP and FAR and applicable agency supplemental guidance.
  • Provides additional services including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and provisional rate development as needed.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of each assigned client?s business and the accounting operations within them.
  • Recommends, designs, and implements any necessary department controls and procedures.
  • Communicates and coordinates with clients to ensure that all work is completed timely, accurately, and as promised.
  • Works with department partners to grow practice group through implementation of efficient processes, applications and leveraging of emerging technologies.
 
 
 
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED
 
  • Requires strong supervisory, organizational, analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision and demonstrate the ability to manage and coach employees.
  • Executive level communication skills demonstrating the ability to extract relevant information from a large volume of data.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or degree in related field combined with relevant accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum seven years? experience in the government contracts accounting field with at least three years as a manager and preferably in providing back office support to government contractor clients.
  • Proficient in the use of multiple automated accounting system software and spreadsheet applications and able to train others as needed.
  • Strong understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), compliant accounting and billing systems.
  • Advanced understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives, client requirements, and staffing needs and issues
  • Strong project management skills including development and monitoring of engagement budgets
