For more information, visit&nbsp;cherokee-federal.com.<br /> <br /> <strong>SUMMARY</strong></p> <p>Cherokee Federal is looking for an engineer or scientist with experience in meteorological or related project management, program management, resource management (budget, personnel), grants management, and knowledge of R2O conventions. (Readiness Levels) is required to support the Office of Weather and Air Quality and the overall effort to accelerate research into operations/applications and provide program support for the Hurricane Supplemental portfolio.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PROGRAM OVERVIEW</strong></p> <p>The NOAA Weather Program Office (WPO) supports world-class weather research to save lives, reduce property damage, and enhance the national economy. In pursuit of its vision and mission, WPO works closely with the National Weather Service (NWS) to help develop and transition weather research, including hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, heavy precipitation, and air pollution.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide programmatic support for a combination of physical science and technological fields related to meteorological research and applications. Conducts analyses and produces reports for mission-supporting scientific work. Provides a full suite of support functions, including planning, reviewing work, and executing technical tasks.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Provide project management support for activities associated with transitioning WPO-supported research to operations (R2O) activities by assisting in the development, review, and approval process of the Research to Operations (R2O) transition plans; and tracking the progress and Readiness Levels (RL) of the transition projects.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a subject matter expert in transitioning research into operations, particularly into National Weather Service operations.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Identify, recommend, and execute new and existing NOAA and WPO policies about R2O to improve R2O efficiency.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Provide support to plan, coordinate, investigate and provide scientific analysis and offer solutions, if needed, for all internal and external grant-related activities from the preparation of the funding opportunity announcements to the final grant closeouts. Assist with the preparation and publication of the funding announcements.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Assist with the peer-review process of the Letter of Intent (LOI) and full proposals submitted to the WPO&rsquo;s programs by documenting, tracking, tallying the review score and rank ordering the requests, and preparing all the necessary documents and spreadsheets for the review process.
