The primary objective of the Campus Public Safety Officer is to provide a safe and secure environment for all members of the College community by means of an alert and vigilant prevention patrol. This is a sworn Law enforcement position and requires carrying a firearm. A Public Safety Officer in the Pittsburgh Technical College Police Department patrols assigned areas of property used, owned or occupied by Pittsburgh Technical College.</p> <br /> <strong>Education Requirements</strong> <p>Associate degree is preferred but not required in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or appropriate related field.<br /> Act 120 training required<br /> Act 235 Certification or waiver from the PA State Police.<br /> First Aid,&nbsp;CPR&nbsp;and&nbsp;AED&nbsp;certifications must be up to date.</p> <br /> <strong>Experience Requirements</strong> <p>Minimum of two years experience in law enforcement or in the security field</p> <br /> <strong>Responsibilities</strong> <p>Patrol campus and leased property by vehicle and foot<br /> Respond to calls for service<br /> Respond to Fire alarms<br /> Respond to emergencies on campus<br /> Patrol both on and off campus buildings to assure proper security of the same, including, but not limited to, locking and unlocking of facilities; deterring theft, vandalism and loitering; and of general buildings and grounds security issues.<br /> First responder when medical situations occur<br /> Reports observed irregularities such as presence of unauthorized people, fire hazards, leaking pipes, unsecured entries and faulty equipment.<br /> Writes reports and maintains accurate records of incidents they encounter.</p> <br /> <strong>Physical Demands</strong><br /> Other Job Information <p>Must wear&nbsp;PTC&nbsp;police uniform; provided by department.<br /> Must have valid driver&rsquo;s license and car insurance<br /> Must pass the PA Act 153 background check and motor vehicle check prior to employment.<br /> Designated Campus Security Authority<br /> Additional qualifications:<br /> Must be a U.S. Citizen<br /> Must be at least 21 years of age<br /> Must have good vision, hearing, strength and agility<br /> Must enjoy working with people and meeting the public<br /> Personal characteristics require honesty, sound judgment, integrity and a sense of responsibility.</p> <br /> <strong>Work Schedule</strong> <p>&bull; Officers will be required to work a rotating shift schedule<br /> &bull; Coverage is required 24 hours per day seven (7) days per week.<br /> &bull; Officers will be scheduled to work 20 &ndash; 29 hours per week.</p>
