Heavy duty diesel mechanic

<p><strong>Position Summary: </strong>&nbsp;The diesel mechanic is a hands-on positon.&nbsp; Under mimimal supervision, the Shop mechanic directly repairs company tractors, trailers, crew trucks, and heavy equipment.</p> <p>Wages Hours and Benefits: To be determined by experience,&nbsp;Benefits available 1st of the month 30 days after start date (health, life insurance, short term life, dental, 401k after 1 year of service)</p> <p>Normal office hours Monday-Friday&nbsp; 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. May exceed these hours.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.</li> <li>Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.</li> <li>Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.</li> <li>Maintain DOT records and maintenance records on each company vehicle.</li> <li>Perform routine maintenance on all company vehicles.</li> <li>Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive, mechanical equipment and machinery.</li> <li>Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.</li> <li>Compile operational or personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair or maintenance statistics, or test results.</li> <li>Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.</li> <li>Examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned</li> </ul> <p><strong>Physical Demands:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Use hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate, and feel objects; kneel, crouch, and/or crawl</li> <li>Lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds</li> <li>Stoop, lay, bend or squat for periods of time.</li> <li>Performing overhead work.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Education and Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>2 to 3 years of mechanical experience</li> <li>CDL Class A (helpful)</li> <li>2 to 3 years of hydraulic and DOT experience</li> <li>Certified DOT Mechanic</li> <li>Air Brake/Air Conditioning knowledge (helpful)</li> <li>Prior forklift certification (helpful)</li> <li>Education equivalent to a high school diploma</li> <li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Ability to manage several tasks/projects</li> <li>Good analytical skills for problem solving</li> </ul>
