<p>Augustana University is currently recruiting for full-time day shift custodians. No previous experience is required, but helpful!<br /> <br /> As a custodian, you will play an essential role in maintaining the buildings of Augustana University, and helps support a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students, faculty and fellow staff members.<br /> <br /> Responsibilities:<br /> <br /> Maintain Augustana in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment; keep work areas free of hazardous conditions (i.e., grease/oil spills, sawdust, excess supplies, etc.).<br /> Assure that daily cleaning schedules and procedures are followed closely, assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times.<br /> Able and willing to maintain garden beds by weeding and planting flowers<br /> Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc.<br /> Maintain the appearance of the housekeepers work areas.<br /> Minimize the waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.<br /> Use and handle chemicals, compounds, solvents, etc. according to OSHA established guidelines and follow all established safety and procedures and precautions.<br /> Assure that established Infection Control and Universal Precautions practices are followed when performing housekeeping procedures.<br /> Vacuum, dust, and clean glass surfaces.<br /> Clean public restrooms, laundries, and theme houses.<br /> Pick up and deliver supplies and materials.<br /> Participates in solid waste removal from buildings to outside dumpsters and from outside trash cans to dumpsters.<br /> Maintains the sidewalks and entrances during the winter months by shoveling and salting to ensure a campus that is safe and accessible for the community.<br /> <br /> Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.<br /> <br /> Qualifications:<br /> <br /> Must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse populations, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community<br /> High School diploma or GED<br /> <br /> Physical Requirements of the position:<br /> <br /> The ability to lift up to 30 pounds.<br /> The ability to walk up and down stairs and stand for the duration of scheduled shift.<br /> <br /> What can you bring to the table?<br /> <br /> Your ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.<br /> Your ability to deal tactfully with personnel, students, family members, visitors, government agencies/ personnel and the general public.<br /> Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.<br /> <br /> APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Applications will begin to be reviewed immediately and continue until the position is filled.
