Job description: Allstate is currently seeking a talented and motivated Law Clerk to join our Claims Litigation team. This is a hybrid role based in the Markham office of Allstate Canada, the position is accountable for supporting the efficient operation of the Law & Regulation litigation services department by applying knowledge of legal concepts and processes. Under the direction of the department lawyers, the clerk will draft legal documents, assist in managing files, summarizes medical, investigation and special damage information; assist the lawyers in file and document management; support the management of insurance defence and tort litigation/dispute work and related issues/matters Accountabilities: Review new file assignments, organize file contents, and prepare summary memoranda for review by counsel. Prepare affidavit of documents and obtain affidavit of documents from plaintiffs counsel and organize file for discovery Following discovery, pursue production requests and track progress, make recommendations for motions where required Gather matter related documents for the attorney to analyze Independently draft motions for lawyer to review Contribute ideas and expertise to promote efficiency within the department Qualifications: Paralegal/Law Clerk degree or certificate Minimum 1 - 2 years Law Clerk experience is required Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written) Understands how to prioritize tasks, push files forward and escalates issues appropriately Able to build relationships across multiple areas of the business Excellent organizational skills and a necessity for a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Allstate Canada Group has policies and practices that provide workplace accommodations.
