Lafarge GVA Ready Mix is looking for a Safety Support Officer with experience to join our team. The Safety Support Officer will report directly to the Field Operations Supervisor, supporting initiatives and roll outs of the companys safety systems as it applies to product manufacturing, plant management, delivery, and customer site management. In this role you will be responsible for providing support and working collaboratively with both the hourly and salary employees in respect to site health and safety. Support operations to ensure all certifications are valid and kept up to date Facilitate pre-employment and post incident testing Support tracking divisions safety leading and lagging indicators Help facilitate incident investigations and ensure compliance Participate in industry related meetings promoting best practices and articulating employee concerns Execute corporate and division specific policies and safety initiatives to improve overall safety performance Coach and provide hand-on support to Plant Managers and Supervisors on internal and external safety policies and programs Ensuring that locations meet WorkSafe and provincial health and safety legislation requirements Facilitate corrective actions from all audit findings and incident investigation reports Support COR Audit compliance across the business Provide and develop monthly safety communications for Joint Health and Safety Committees across the business Completed or commenced some post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety (or other related studies) Minimum 1 year of industry related safety experience Experience working in an industrial environment Experience in a unionized environment is an asset High level of computer literacy and application skills in MS Office and Google Drive Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Self starter Strong attention to detail Problem solving skills Capable of maintaining composure in a fast paced environment Safety focused, team player, whose innovations motivate others As part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required.
