To learn more about who we are and what we do, visit www.arkonsolutions.com Job description The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the purchasing and day-to-day management of the procurement needs across the organization, inventory levels optimization and control, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost savings for Canadian and US facilities, while achieving sales objectives. The Procurement Manager is an external facing individual responsible for developing and maintaining supplier relationships in alignment with our core values. The individual in this position is responsible to ensure proper inventory optimization and demand planning implementation to support the organization''s customer service objectives. The Procurement Manager has the following specific responsibilities: Coordinating and executing the planning and forecasting process to create improved quality and alignment of all Procurement plans and demands. Staying current and up to date on all procurement, chemical supply, and market trends and adapting accordingly. Conduct risk assessment for the procurement department. Understanding production needs, goods consumptions, volumes, etc. Maintain close liaison and communication with Production, Technical, Sales & Quality departments to ensure effective and timely material management to promote a stable planning platform; this includes raw materials, consumables, packaging, rentals, and equipment lease or otherwise. Managing the planning of raw material supply based on analysis of sales orders and raw material forecasting in close cooperation with the Sales, Profitability and Production departments. Establish and maintain a working inventory system to maximize inventory turns to sales ratio. Maximizing use of the ERP system and ensuring data accuracy and validity of all procurement related documentation within and outside the system. Such documentation will include all required master data pertaining to raw materials such as supplier Info records, pricing, lead times, supplier NAFTA Certificates, Certificate of Analysis and Product Specification, Technical Data Sheets, Domestic Substance List, Safety Data Sheet, agreements, sample requests, etc. Scheduling, expediting and following-up on orders to ensure accuracy and timely delivery, arranging for freight and expediting orders as required. This also includes maintaining pricing and lead-times in SAP. Approve products and vendor selections based on price, margin, quality, delivery terms and compliance with regulatory and company policies. Analyze vendor/supplier invoices with the finance department to track spending. Ensure a proper implementation of the supplier selection, evaluation and qualification process and conducting supplier quality and delivery performance evaluations. Conducting the solicitation of bids when required. Negotiate with vendors to ensure the best outcome. Supervise the procurement department. Providing leadership (i.e., setting individual objectives, reviewing performance, and providing ongoing feedback on a formal & informal basis) so that all team members are aware of what they are required to achieve and how they are performing against the agreed upon performance indicators and key objectives. Managing the development and performance of the teams through a culture of coaching, skills development, and increased accountability. Review and process claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment. Investigate trends in materials and supply prices, recommend timing and quantity of purchases and establish economical purchase quantities. Developing and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the processes run effectively and
