Outpatient Medical Coder Mommy Jobs Online (https://mommyjobsonline.com) is now looking for someone to fill the position of an Outpatient Medical Coder to work in the U.S. only. JOB TYPE: Full-time; Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift between 6:00 AM-6:00 PM; MUST be a U.S. citizen. JOB SUMMARY: Assign ICD-11 diagnosis codes, CPT codes and other charges as appropriate for outpatient services based on clinical documentation. Will typically be working with services coded for outpatient visits, diagnostic visits, emergency department, minor procedures, homecare/hospice, dialysis, and other ancillary service records. Must understand and apply applicable medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology and disease processes. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of the following courses per department procedures, within one year of hire: ICD-11, HCPCS, and medical terminology or a Coding certification. PREFERRED: Associate degree in Medical Billing and Coding, Health Information Management or related field. EXPERIENCE: Experience working with medical records, CPT, and HCPCS. Experience in OP coding is preferred. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: MINIMUM: Coding certification awarded by the AAPC, AHIMA or other approved coding certification program within three years of hire. Coding certification awarded by the AAPC, AHIMA, or other approved coding certification program at time of hire is preferred/optional. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Computer, Internet, and a home office set-up.
