Summary of function The Air Conditioning Engineer determines the cooling capacity required for each unit and designs the refrigeration system that will best suit the calculated cooling capacity. Primary Responsibilities Design and select air conditioning systems; Design and select cooling and heating coils; Design piping, refrigeration, water and gas diagrams; Validate refrigeration calculations from the sales department and provide technical support in the preparation of technical service bids; Give final approval of projects for the production of ventilation units; Verify refrigeration system designs, including coil drawings, to order parts for the manufacturing of air conditioning units; Write the material list; Support the engineering department and act as a technical reference for all refrigeration related issues; Work on various R&D projects - if applicable. Experience and Training Education and experience Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (asset)       or College diploma in building mechanics Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in similar functions Specific knowledge Mastery of Solid Works, AutoCAD 2D or any other drawing software; Knowledge of equipment used in the industrial environment: lifting devices, rolling equipment, welding equipment, etc. Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD drawing software Significant ability to read blueprints & Good spatial perception - 3D visualization Knowledge of refrigeration with variable speed compressors Knowledge of VISA Knowledge of electrical, building mechanics, controls, ASME and ANSI standards Knowledge of Packless, Alcoil, Danfoss 4c - an asset Ability to work in a team & Ability to communicate clearly Sense of organization and responsibility Autonomy Creativity Attention to detail and work well done
