The OpportunityWe are seeking an enthusiastic Systems Specialist who brings fresh ideas and will deliver first class systems administration and infrastructure support to improve the capability and reliability of our schools IT Infrastructure. The Role

As part of our inspiring MSE 2025 vision, IT infrastructure is key to delivering on our research and teaching goals. As our Systems Specialist, you will be the go-to person for our MSE clients, solving Tier 1 and 2 queries. This role will see you working primarily with open source software and will offer you a variety of experience across mixed IT infrastructure. As we grow and evolve, we need you to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems as we continue to push technology and systems forward. You will have the opportunity to work on everything from providing IT infrastructure solutions to deploying and managing common IT platforms such as; Linux, SQL databases and revision control systems. You will be part of the changing landscape of new technologies and trends including virtualisation, networks, storage and hardware.

What youll be doing

You will be supporting our clients with the design, acquisition, availability, support and maintenance lifecyle of a range of IT technology infrastructure. Some of these include servers, databases, middleware, license management and virtualisation environments. You will also work within the team to support a variety of specialised research and teaching storage platforms and high-performance computing systems such as Linux, VMware and other inhouse toolsets.   • Provide solutions to faults and requests through Tier 1 and 2 enquires
  • Develop and maintain IT Knowledge documentation
  • Install, configure and adapt software to support staff and students
  • Assist with data centres and equipment room set ups
  • Maintain the security of localised IT technology
  • Support the delivery of key It projects within the school

Your profile

Success in this role means you are proactive and committed to delivering outstanding IT support to clients. MSE staff rely on your guidance when it comes to systems and infrastructure decisions, so youll have a direct impact in keeping MSE productive. You like to work to clear service delivery levels and are great at managing your time to deliver to these goals. You love continuous improvement and exploring new ideas to improve the ways you and your team work. You''re a fast learner and great problem solver, you bring good interpersonal skills and would like to grow your stakeholder relationships through this position.
