Experienced Manual MachinistOur company is a multi-disciplinary service provider to the construction, maintenance, oil gas, resource sectors and supplier of steel and piping materials.
  • We are searching for a Fitter, Turner, Manual Machinist who is physically fit and active to perform manual labour duties effectively and has the necessary ability to set and operate manual milling and lathe machines.
  • On the job training will be provided with long-term employment opportunity.
  • This role is ongoing with full time hours- working Monday to Friday from 7am to 3.30pm but you will often be required to work overtime
  • Qualified trade certificate, with the ability to work to Australian standards
  • Excellent ability extensive experience in Machining Centres OR Lathes - minimum of 4 years up-to-date experience including the ability to use manual mills lathes
  • Minimum of two Trade reference/referee
  • Good command of English

Essential Skills Characteristics:
  • Trade certificate in relevant trade; Machining
  • Experience with manual machining
  • Ability and experience to operate the following but not limited to:
  • Vertical Borer - Manual
  • Horizontal Borers - Manual
  • Milling Machines - Manual
  • Lathes Manual * Experience with operating machine tools
  • Must be able to program and set and run the manual machines;
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices.
  • Forklift license is a must
Responsibilities:
  • Setting up of guides, stops and other controls on machining tools. Setting up of cutting and shaping tools, dies in machinery.
  • Use machining tools to mill, cut, grind, bore, drill and plane to form various metal stock and castings. All to fine tolerances.
  • Interpret and machine components using engineering fabrication drawings and specifications. Maintain machinery, including the repair of fluid power equipment and mechanical parts.
  • Maintain machinery, including the repair of fluid power equipment and mechanical parts. Operate equipment and carry out all work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Carry out production requirements as shown on Job Sheets and Manufacturing Work Instructions, and as directed.
  • Mark all product with Job Number
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean safe manner and report any equipment requiring repair or recalibration
  • Assisting team members in other areas as required
  • Solid adherence to work, health and safety principles and practices
