Community Employment Specialist – Employment Matters Program

WORK SCHEDULE: PART-TIME, 35 HRS/WK WAGE: $15.50 - $15.75 /HR
DAYS & HOURS OF WORK: M - F, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm - N. COUNTY
SOME NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS MAY BE REQUIRED

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for providing on the job training and support to participants in the Employment Matters and Supported Employment Program. Responsible for liaison with employers, documenting participant attendance, goal implementation, progress reports and paperwork for billing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Meet with consumers identified for community employment (volunteer and paid) to assess strengths and interests.
• Assist with the coordination of the services in association with Job Developers and Program coordinators.
• Assist with the ongoing site maintenance and regular communication with employers to ensure satisfaction with services.
• Assist with other aspects of the program.
• Interagency duties and responsibilities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in maintaining a unified and cohesive program by carrying out the following duties:
• Meet with new and existing participants to identify strengths and interests.
• Assist with the development of a plan for job development based on the assessment for strengths and interests.
• Provide on the job training and support to participants to ensure stability in job placement.
• Attend and participate in Annual Review and IDT meetings, reporting on the needed goals and progress on current goals.
• Attend and participate in assigned staff meeting, workshops and trainings.
Responsible for the following program documentation:
• Ensure continuity of consumer program through assessment, goal development, data collection, and weekly/monthly ID notes.
• Accurately and timely document each consumers work schedule and attendance. Complete seizure, incident and ID Notes as required.
• Develop job task analyses and provide ongoing productivity documentation to ensure appropriate training support.
Assist in other aspects of the program:
• Meet regularly with supervisor and related staff to review program activities, consumer needs and service gaps.
• Participate in agency communication and committees as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining program evaluation data.
focus on job site safety, employer education and consumer evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principle and philosophy of inclusion
• Experience with or knowledge of employment standards.
• Experience dealing with the public with courtesy and tact.
• FA/CPR certified or the ability to be FA/CPR certified.
Communication Skills:
• Ability to present the employment needs of consumers to employers and the community.
• Ability to provide training and direction to participants.
• Ability to prepare, read, analyze and interpret reports.
• Ability to effectively present information to participants, their families, care givers and others.
Reasoning & Mental Ability:
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Ability to resolve problems, recall details and be able to concentrate.
• Must be able to think clearly and respond appropriately to emergencies, complete work within deadlines, and work with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
• Ability to work independently.
Physical Ability & Stress Level:
• Ability to tolerate a moderate to high stress level.
• Ability to lift and transfer from 75-100 lbs., push and/or pull up to 250 lbs.
• Ability to provide support to consumers in community environments.
Work Environment:
• Noise level in office is moderate to high.
• Must have access to reliable transportation to meet with employers, attend meeting and travel throughout the county.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, proof of auto liability insurance, and be able to transport consumers when necessary.
• Exposure to blood borne pathogens could occur during restrooming, feeding, or when administering first aid to consumers. Hepatitis B vaccine is offered to all employees at no cost to employee.

TB Test, health screening and a LiveScan background clearance are required for employment with United Cerebral Palsy Association of SD County.
