Job Descriptions ?

- Monitor all Oracle database servers and instances. Patch all Oracle
database instances. Install, upgrade and configure any Oracle database
servers and instances. Continue backup and disaster recovery strategy
currently in place or create a new backup and disaster recovery process for
all Oracle database servers and instances.
- Provide recovery services from all backups for databases as needed by
the University. Monitor backups and verification of backups. Create
accounts and apply permissions to databases, tables and all other objects
within the Oracle database environment. Run database scripts provided by
the University as needed.
- Provide migration services as necessary, moving databases to new
servers, re-configuring the databases, etc. Perform cloning and replication
services.
- Perform proactive log reviews as necessary to keep all systems healthy.
- Troubleshoot any issues with the database servers and instances. Work
with third-party vendors when necessary and when it relates to application
using any of the supported databases. Configure and maintain proper
security setups for Oracle. Install, update and configure any SSL
certificates or any encryption that is required on Oracle databases.
Perform tuning and adjustments to database servers and instances. Dataguard
Management.
- Oracle License management and alerting. CRONTAB maintenance. Agent and
service up monitoring. Locked record and user management and release. Job
monitoring and reporting. Monitoring of Linux temp and var locations as
needed. RMAN monitoring as necessary. Table space and sever space
monitoring, alerting and remediation. Compression and full management of
database logs.
- Work with the University?s change management process for all
production changes. Provide strategic direction towards future upgrades due
to growth or product end of life notices. Review of database statistics,
file activity, etc. Review database server performance metrics and
remediate as needed, such as: RAM, CPU, run queues, etc. Database server
operating system patching and upgrades.
