Position Overview

To provide support to the plants, by maintaining facility equipment, welding, and fabricating of m/c guarding, platforms, foundry tools, flux/fire carts, scrap trenches & inclines etc  

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment: Performing duties in a safe, efficient and proper manner.  Applying and meeting all applicable codes, standards and/or regulations when doing work.
  • Records: Prepare and maintain records in ERP system of program changes and electrical and mechanical upgrades. Maintain a daily record of work completed.
  • Maintenance Tasks: Maintaining and repairing plant equipment and performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities. Support all teams in crisis management situations i.e. breakdowns. Take part in the annual preventative maintenance requirements on the equipment.  
  • Training: Participating in training and skill transfer programs for apprentices with regular review of the practical training progress.
  • Other duties as required including special projects as they arise.
  • Support day to day activities based on supervisory and management team needs.
  • To communicate improvement ideas and provide solutions to day to day activities.
  • Access PLEX and put in daily hours against work done.

 

Education / Certification

  • Electrician or Millwright Red Seal Certification/Apprenticeship
  • Arc flash formal training or experience
  • Experience in a diecast, automotive, or manufacturing environment performing like tasks

 

Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
  • PLC experience – RSLogix5000
  • Experience working with Motoman robots and Arc Flash Training
  • Must be reliable, be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Have good written and communication skills.
  • Must be organized and able to keep accurate documentation.
  • Understanding of most equipment within the plants.
  • Be capable of troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, change faulty components, and process troubleshooting are assets
  • Knowledge of applicable government codes, rules and regulations
