Description Pension & Benefits Specialist We are on the search for a Pension and Benefits Specialist to join our clients team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing timely and critical support and advice to the Pension and Benefits Advisors for accurate pension administration in compliance with plan rules, legislative requirements, and internal practices. This role works closely with the center of Expertise, third-party administrator, consultants, and other vendors to ensure effective delivery. If this seems like the perfect role for you, Apply now! Your success will be defined by your ability to: Provide subject matter expertise on the application of the provisions of the pension and benefits plans in accordance with various applicable policies and legislation Calculate pension adjustments (PA), pension adjustment reversals (PAR), and past service pension adjustments (PSPA) Audit the pension batch and leave tracking processes to ensure the validity of information and modifies and update member data where necessary Run daily action reports and audits of pension data to identify and resolve any payroll-impacting adjustments Liaises with IST and HR Services team to develop, implement, and test database enhancements/updates impacting pension administration Responsible for maintaining the highest level of data integrity Your strengths include: Bachelors degree in accounting, Human Resources, or another related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered Payroll certification (PCP or CPM), Pension/Benefit certification (CEEBS) is desired Five years of progressive pension administration experience in a large organization, preferably post-secondary or public sector Understanding of Canadian Payroll and Alberta employment legislation, Canadian income tax regulations, and other relevant Canadian legislation Experience with PeopleSoft HCM (Human Resources, Benefits & Payroll for North America) or an enterprise management system is required Understanding of Canadian Payroll and Alberta employment legislation, Canadian income tax regulations, and other relevant Canadian legislation Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a large team Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Google suite
